Soulful vibes, timeless rhythm
Listen NowRandy B’s story is a remarkable blend of resilience, passion, and musical destiny. From jamming backstage with legends like George Benson, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, and Norman Brown to now releasing his debut single “Joy and More Joy,” produced by two-time Grammy winner Paul Brown, Randy’s journey is one of perseverance through profound personal loss. The track, recorded on Brown’s Gibson L-5 at Funky Joint Studio in L.A., showcases Randy’s soulful urban jazz guitar style, backed by Roberto Vally on bass and Jeff Smith on keys. The song’s title is a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, Joanne, whose memory continues to inspire him, reflected even in the Stratocaster with her photo embossed on it.
Surviving a devastating 2006 car accident that claimed Joanne’s life and left him with a broken neck, Randy’s recovery was fueled by his commitment to his children and his music. His early start in Houston, playing with the TSU Tornados, and his formative years in Detroit, where he earned the nickname “George Benson” in high school, laid the foundation for a decades-long career leading The Collaboration Band. Balancing his musical pursuits with a career as an electrician, Randy’s story is one of grit and hope, with his upcoming single marking a new chapter. His dream of Grammy recognition and his promise to gift Paul Brown a signed 1980 guitar reflect his unwavering ambition.
